Fight Back
1. Adopt don’t Shop!
Yes, dog in the pet stores may look really cute. And one may catch your eye. But don’t buy from pet stores. Most pet stores are where puppy mills sell there dogs. If you buy one, your supporting puppy mills. Fight back by not buying from the pet store, and adopting from your local shelter. You’ll be glad you did.
2. Don’t buy from a breeder unless you KNOW they’re not a puppy mill breeder.
Sometimes, breeders don’t tell you they are from a puppy mill. You’ll need to do the spy work yourself. Ask them to let you see the mother, documents from vets stating that puppy and, if you wish, mother are in good health and have gone to the vet regularly, cares about the puppy and helps you with guiding you through puppy parenting, and does not breed very young or older animals. In these few ways, you will be able to know if the breeder is or is not a puppy mill breeder. If they are, don’t purchase a puppy from them.
3. Purchasing online? BE AWARE!
If your purchasing online, be aware of the scams. Many people don’t realize, but breeders from puppy mills can make an online site, and they could claim not be be a puppy mill breeder, but they are. So do your research and try to meet the dog and mother.
4. Make awareness, globally!
Have a website or blog? Get awareness out there and help out! The more people that are aware, the better. Just like PawProtection is trying to do, get people aware and get out and speak out. Donate to local shelters to help them care for the animals in there facility. Donate to vets to help them keep providing care to animals. Donate to orginizations such as the ASPCA, HSUS, and WSPA. You could also donate to places like PawProtection if you like what we do and want to help keep the site going. Just get out there and get involved.
