So, we’ve just announced our new project. This project is called #ANIMALSDESERVELOVE! Basically what we want to do for this project is get #animalsdeservelove trending!

Since there are so many people that are on Twitter (obviously, considering the fact that it goes over capacity all the time!) so we thought we’d use a social network site to spread the word! What better way, right!?

Don’t have Twitter? Why not sign up? It’s free, fun, and you can connect with pretty much anyone famous on there! I know you want to join. Go on, click right here. I’ll wait for you to come back!

Did you create one? Great! Be sure to follow us! Anyway, back to what we were talking about.

So, basically what we want to do is use the hashtag #animalsdeservelove as much as possible in your tweets. The more you use it, the higher it will go in the charts on Twitter, and eventually be in the top 10 trending topics. So basically we’re going by the motto of Tweet it. Trend it. End it. Tweet the hashhtage. Trend the hashtage. End animal cruelty. Simple as that.

So, even if you didn’t join Twitter but you have a Facebook (or a blog or anytype of social networking site.) just spread the word! Tell your friends on Facebook, they might have a Twitter, or tell your blog readers! Please just help us get the word around!

We also made a video, so if you don’t want to read this long post (which is totally understandable!) you can just watch the video!

Thank you so much & please remember beginning FEBRUARY 1ST ADD #ANIMALSDESERVELOVE TO YOUR TWEETS!!!!

NEW YORK, NY: The HSUS said that they had done a hidden-camera investigation to find that there is a New York puppy mill and that over 100 stores are being supplied by them.

They have exposed the puppy mill a couple of days ago, and it was also on the news. Hopefully, people hear this and take it seriously not to buy from those pet shops as well as others. If you’re a little confused as to what puppy mill means, I’ll explain it for you.

Basically a puppy mill is a place where they have a ton of dogs. They force-breed the adult dogs. The dogs have no clean water, or sanitary place to sleep. No toys. Nothing. A lot of puppy mill dogs have dieses and none of them are taken care of. It’s really brotal and it’s all for the money. The puppy mills then send their dogs to pet stores. Which is why you should adopt!

The HSUS reports that Jonathan Lovvorn, from ABC’s “The Bachelor”, who also joined the HSUS in the investigation said “These high-priced pet stores claim to sell dogs from small private breeders, but are actually pushing dogs from huge Midwest puppy mills with some of the worst federal Animal Welfare Act violations imaginable,”

The HSUS has proof of these stores selling puppy mill dogs. Please, remember: DO NOT BUY FROM A PET STORE, ADOPT AN ANIMAL.

If you want to read the full, in depth story and the proof, you can go here.

There are a tons of very good reasons to adopt a dog instead of buying one from a pet store. There’s also very good reason as to why you should buy an older dog, rather then a puppy. Here’s just a few of those great reasons for

Giving an animal a second chance. If you adopt an animal, you’re giving them a second change to have a good life. There are many reasons why animals end up in shelters, but you can help them get out. There are kill-shelters out there, where if an animal doesn’t get adopted within a certain amount of time, the shelter puts them to sleep. How fair is that? So, if you adopt an animal, you’re saving their life.

Puppy mills send their dogs to pet stores! You see a cute dog in a pet store? Well, most likely, that dog came from a puppy mill. Puppy mills, in a few sentences, are a place where dogs are forced to breed. They don’t take care of the animals at all. Most times, when the animals go to a shelter, their health is in great danger. The puppy mill owners keep the dogs cooped up in small cages, with no sanitary water, or even space. It’s dirty and the puppies, as well as the moms, are not taken care of at all. If you go to a shelter, you’re saving a life and giving a dog a sanitary place to live. If you buy from a pet store, you’re supporting puppy mills. So don’t do it.

Helping an animal out. Let’s say there’s a puppy at the shelter. That puppy has special needs, such as a certain heart problem where he needs special medicine. And let’s also say that the family that had him, couldn’t afford him because of that, because let’s face it, things are expensive. So they take him to a shelter. Now, they certainly didn’t want to give their puppy up – but they didn’t want him to suffer. Now, you come along. You see him. You can care for him and give him the medicine and such that he needs to survive, so you do. Now, he has an enjoyable life. He has another nice home, and gets his medication.

Your questions answered. Another nice thing about adopting a pet, you know how big he/she is going to get. You know the type of medical attention he/she needs. It’s pretty much like you’re walking into a dogyou’ve known your whole life. You know about them. When you go to a pet store and buy them, who knows if their lying about the type of breed? If it’s coming from a puppy mill, those people just want money. They don’t care if they say the dog is a poodle and it’s actually a poodle and a lab. So you’re buying a dog, thinking it’s going to be small, but in reality, it’s going to be as big as a lab.

Not high-maintenance. Yes, we’ve all had puppies and we know how hard it can be to take care of. They’re not potty trained and they are not yet trained at all, as a matter of fact. They’ll pretty much brand new and you need to teach them to go outside, to not chew everything in sight, how to sit, stay, and pretty much, everything else. Where as if you adopt an older dog, then you don’t have to teach them everything.

They’re equally cute! Puppies aren’t any cuter then older dogs. They’re equally cute. So save a life. Adopt a shelter dog!

I know you’re probably looking at the title and asking yourself if it is true. Well, my friends, it is. With the help of Puppy Tweets, your dog is able to tweet what he’s doing.

How does it work? Well, your dog moves around and stuff, and when he does, the chip that you put on his collar (as shown in the picture to the left) detects it and tweets something like “Having a fun day running around!”. You can follow your dog on Twitter and know what he’s doing via your smartphone, text, or computer!

I think this is really cute and clever idea! I’d be so curious to see what my dog is up to when I’m not home! If I do end up purchasing, I will definitely do a review on it!

According to ABC News, the FDA is going to test pet food for Salmonella.

The FDA said in a release that you can also be contaminated when touching your pets food. The FDA also said in that release, “The association between human outbreaks of salmonellosis and contact with Salmonella-contaminated pet foods and pet treats is well established. Notably, Health Canada informed FDA of Canadian outbreaks of human salmonellosis that were linked to Salmonella Infantis in pig-ear dog treats that were manufactured in Canada in 1999 and to Salmonella Newport in beefsteak-patty dog treats that were manufactured in Texas in 2002. In addition, human outbreaks of salmonellosis in Canada and the United States in 2005 were linked to pet treats contaminated with Salmonella Thompson. Moreover, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that, between January 2006 and December 2007, seventy human cases of salmonellosis were linked to Salmonella Schwarzengrund in dry dog foods that were manufactured by a company in the United States.”

When buying dog food and treats, please be extra careful. Since they don’t mention which treats and dog foods are possibly contaminated, we need to be extra careful and be aware and watch the news

What can you do to make sure your pet is warm during these cold months?

Sweaters. Sweaters will keep your pets body tempter up and he/she will stay warm. Especially when you take your dog for a walk, you should make sure you purchase a warm sweater to put on him/her. It will really make a difference.

Limit your time outside. Yes, your dog is going to need to go to the bathroom. If you walk your dog, limit your walk. Take him to the corner of your street. Don’t take him around a couple times, or down a long road. Let him/her do their business, then come right back inside.

Blankets. If you have a bed for your pet, make sure to put extra blankets inside of it. That way at night, when it gets really cool, your pet is able to stay nice and warm. If you don’t have a pet bed because your dog is like mine and doesn’t like them, choose a corner out of the way to put some blankets in. Of course you can put them neatly, but if your dogs like mine, when you wake up in the morning, they’ll be all over the place!

Warm bath. When your dog comes back from being outside when it snows, you may notice (if he has long fur) that snow is stuck to him, almost matted into his fur. You need to get this off ASAP. The best thing to do is give him a warm bath and rub it off. The warm water will restore his warmth, and plus he’ll get a nice belly rub!

Wait on that hair cut! If your dog tends to get really furry and you like to shave him down, make sure you do this in October so by the time December comes, he has some fur back. Don’t shave him in December or even November. It will get far too cold for him!

Pet your dog daily. Nothing is more warm then a cuddle. When your dog comes in from outside, if he doesn’t have snow matted to him and he doesn’t need a bath to get it off, you should still cuddle with him. Make sure he gets warm as soon as he gets back inside!

Those are just a few tips to keep your fuzzy friend warm this winter!
