Don’t shop at stores that sell puppies. Yes, we (and other organizations) say this

all the time. But it’s true. If you’re shopping at a store that sells puppies, then your supporting the puppy mill because you’re supporting the store. So, shop at a PetSmart or a PetCo, or a local pet store that has adoption weekends and promotes shelters and rescues!

Write a letter to any pet store that sells puppies asking them to change. The Humane Society of the United States has a letter all typed out and written for you. All you have to do is go here, print it, and send it off to all the puppy selling pet stores. You can also write your own letter if you prefer, asking them to stop selling puppies and switch to hosting adoption weekends and supporting the local rescues.

Donate to organizations such as the ASPCA and the Humane Society. And don’t forget local shelters, too. The ASPCA and The Humane Society, and many other’s, do so much to help protect animals. They both have done so many raids, cared and nurtured the puppies and dogs back to good health. But we need to help them, too. Please remember to donate to them and other organizations that help put the cruelty to an end. Also, please remember to donate to your local animalshelters. They care for the animals and give them a safe, healthy place to live until they’re adopted.

Print posters, make a blog, or host a fundraiser. Getting people to become aware of the harshness of animal cruelty is important. The more people that know the truth, the more they will be willing to help out. So print posters and hang them around town (with permission, of course), make a blog and spread awareness that way. Or you can always host a fundraiser and help the local shelters near you and pass out flyers the give information about puppy mills and why they need to be stopped.

There are so many ways to get involved! So, please do!

More then 50 stores in the US sells puppies.

Going to these pet stores can actually help support puppy mills, which is a huge don’t. If you go to these stores, you are actually helping the puppy mills by supporting the store, even if you don’t purchase a dog.

However, even though there are a lot of pet stores that sell puppies, there’s also many that do not sell puppies! It’s great to look at the two images and see that there are more stores that do not sell puppies, then stores that do.

If you’re thinking of getting a dog or even a cat, these stores offer adoptions. They have local shelters come by and bring their loving pets that would like a forever home! So make sure to check out all the good stores in your state and start shopping and stopping puppy mills!

Research shows that more then half of puppies are purchased online. The danger? It’s probably a puppy mill dog, which in that case the conditions the dogs live in are no joke and puppy mills should be stopped.

There are so many puppy mill breders and the reason being is that there’s “no way to keep track of them all.” ASPCA’s Cori Menkin tells ABC News.

Since Facebook is such a highly populated site, banning the ads would keep a few million people from seeing the cute puppies and being tempted to purchase online. However, ads from animal rescues are still aloud on the market place, which is good as it’s helping to promote adoption.

According to MNN the ASPCA had set out a wide campaign about Puppy Mills and the Facebook banning the ads, was part of their campaign. Great job to the ASPCA for getting Facebook to ban the ads!

 RedApes.org is testing Apps for Apes which would allow orangutans to communicate with other orangutans using the iPad.

Already, the iPad is becoming a huge hit with the orangutans. According to Animal Talk, the  orangutans are not holding the iPads because orangutans are very strong and they have the ability to break the device in half. But, if you hold an iPad up to them with a drawling app up, they will draw. I think it’s quite interesting to allow orangutans to communicate with other orangutans across different zoo’s. Here’s a video of an orangutans using an iPad!

Many people, including the Huston Zoo have already donated some iPads! Many Zoo’s have been receiving iPad donations!

You can help the Apes out by donating a slightly used iPad to Red Apes! How cool would it be knowing that your iPad is being used by an ape!? Personally, I think it’s very interesting!

So, basically what we want to do is use the hashtag #animalsdeservelove as much as possible in your tweets. The more you use it, the higher it will go in the charts on Twitter, and eventually be in the top 10 trending topics. So basically we’re going by the motto of Tweet it. Trend it. End it. Tweet the hashhtage. Trend the hashtage. End animal cruelty. Simple as that.

So, even if you didn’t join Twitter but you have a Facebook (or a blog or anytype of social networking site.) just spread the word! Tell your friends on Facebook, they might have a Twitter, or tell your blog readers! Please just help us get the word around!

I know you’re probably looking at the title and asking yourself if it is true. Well, my friends, it is. With the help of Puppy Tweets, your dog is able to tweet what he’s doing.

How does it work? Well, your dog moves around and stuff, and when he does, the chip that you put on his collar (as shown in the picture to the left) detects it and tweets something like “Having a fun day running around!”. You can follow your dog on Twitter and know what he’s doing via your smartphone, text, or computer!

I think this is really cute and clever idea! I’d be so curious to see what my dog is up to when I’m not home! If I do end up purchasing, I will definitely do a review on it!

If the weather now is any indication on what this winter will be like, then this is going to be an extremely cold winter. What can you do to make sure your pet is warm during these cold months?

Sweaters. Sweaters will keep your pets body tempter up and he/she will stay warm. Especially when you take your dog for a walk, you should make sure you purchase a warm sweater to put on him/her. It will really make a difference.

Limit your time outside. Yes, your dog is going to need to go to the bathroom. If you walk your dog, limit your walk. Take him to the corner of your street. Don’t take him around a couple times, or down a long road. Let him/her do their business, then come right back inside.

Blankets. If you have a bed for your pet, make sure to put extra blankets inside of it. That way at night, when it gets really cool, your pet is able to stay nice and warm. If you don’t have a pet bed because your dog is like mine and doesn’t like them, choose a corner out of the way to put some blankets in. Of course you can put them neatly, but if your dogs like mine, when you wake up in the morning, they’ll be all over the place!

Warm bath. When your dog comes back from being outside when it snows, you may notice (if he has long fur) that snow is stuck to him, almost matted into his fur. You need to get this off ASAP. The best thing to do is give him a warm bath and rub it off. The warm water will restore his warmth, and plus he’ll get a nice belly rub!

Wait on that hair cut! If your dog tends to get really furry and you like to shave him down, make sure you do this in October so by the time December comes, he has some fur back. Don’t shave him in December or even November. It will get far too cold for him!

Pet your dog daily. Nothing is more warm then a cuddle. When your dog comes in from outside, if he doesn’t have snow matted to him and he doesn’t need a bath to get it off, you should still cuddle with him. Make sure he gets warm as soon as he gets back inside!

Those are just a few tips to keep your fuzzy friend warm this winter!
